Veteran Housing
Permanent Homes for Those Who Served
Family Promise of the Big Bend operates two dedicated housing communities for formerly homeless veterans in Tallahassee. These are not transitional programs — they are permanent, supportive homes designed with the dignity and specific needs of our veteran community in mind.
Homefront
Homefront is a 52-unit permanent supportive housing complex exclusively for formerly homeless veterans. Residents benefit from on-site case management and access to wrap-around support services, allowing them to maintain stability and thrive in the community.
Valor at Balkin
Valor at Balkin is our newest veteran housing community, featuring 18 thoughtfully renovated units. Made possible by an $850,000 grant from the Florida Department of Children and Families, the renovation was completed in spring 2026. Every design detail — from washed concrete floors to lowered electrical outlets and accessible bathrooms — was chosen with our disabled veterans in mind.
How Referrals Work
Residency at both Homefront and Valor at Balkin is by referral through our close working partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs or via a referral fomr our SSVF program. Veterans seeking housing support should contact our SSVF team as a first step.
